He then smirks as he asks about the condition of Carla’s injury, the well-known wound the King inflicted upon his own son, and Klone glares at the man as she moves to defensively stand in front of her son. Klone weakly calls her son’s name as the vampire man seems smug before asking the two for their forgiveness, explaining that he only came here as a replacement for his father. The man ignores Carla completely and turns to Klone, assuming that if she the favored mistress of the Founder King Giessbach, that would mean this place is her room.Ĭarla bristles as he orders the man to leave and calmly tells his mother to come over to him. The man, who is revealed to be a vampire, speaks calmly as he apologizes for the interruption and Carla immediately jumps to his feet and demands to know if this is some sort of riot. Suddenly Klone shouts in surprise as a strange man saunters into the room. Could it really have been a poison that killed all of the victims…? People whom illness should not affect at all…Ĭarla tells his mother that he’s heard rumors of poison being the cause of these deaths, but Klone still seems uncertain. Their people are dyingーpeople who should be immortal. His words seem to bring her spirits up only a little bit as Klone explains that while she knows Carla is okay, she can’t stop herself from feeling scared. The mark on his body is from his father’s punishment, not an illness. Klone’s voice trails off as she stares down at her son’s wound again, and Carla gives his mother a small smile as he reassures her that there’s no need for her to worry. She admits that ever since the Count’s passing, whatever illness he had has been spreading and people have been dying one after the other. Ĭarla asks if she’s referring to what their acquaintance Count Pastier passed away of some time ago, and his mother’s expression clouds as she nods. She quietly tells Carla that she’ll treat his injury, and he somberly responds that he understands.Īs she’s treating him, Klone grimaces at the sight of the brand her husband left on their son and complains that it looks more like a mark of disease than a brand. She looks over his injury as admits that while it would certainly heal fine if they left it alone, it’s painful for her to see her son bear such a wound. Klone’s voice is firm as she instructs her son not to act tough, and Carla eventually yields. Klone then prompts her son to go ahead and show her his newest wound from training, but is met with reluctance from Carla. Klone makes the comment that Carla really resembles his father, which catches her son off-guard, and Klone immediately decides that this isn’t the time to talk about things like that. Inside of Carla’s room, Carla and his mother Klone are sitting together. What was once respect and admiration slowly turned into anger and hatred, just as water slowly erodes and chips away at rock. He remembers being shocked by what his mother had told him, that his father feared him, and before he knew it his feelings began to change. In a monologue, Carla reflects back on an old memory. I’ve left out the five situational parts to save myself from length, and because they don’t carry much relevance to the actual plot of the route. Just like with all my previous route posts the Maniac Prologue, Story parts, and Epilogue are included in this summary. I don’t know how I would have handled two nearly 20,000 word posts in a row…Īnyways, without any further delay on my part, Carla’s Maniac post. I’m so excited to see Carla’s route moving along so nicely! Luckily for me, the Maniac story went much quicker than the Dark story.

John tells us in his gospel that the Lord Jesus spoke to Nathanael about Jacob’s vision, and promised him that he, like Jacob, would see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man (John 1:51). 28:19–22), for there the God of his fathers had promised to be with him in his journey and to bring him safely home. When Jacob awoke, he recognized the profound significance of the vision and memorialized the name of the place as “bethel” or “the house of God” (Gen. Most significantly, at the top of the stairway stood the Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac (Gen. The angels of God were ascending and descending upon the stairway. In a dream he saw a “ladder” (or better, a “stairway”) set on earth and reaching into heaven. As Jacob undertook his journey he came to a place where he lay down in an open field and slept. Jacob’s encounter with God took place after his father had blessed him and sent him into a far country to escape the murderous enmity of his brother (Gen. Both encounters take place at night, and in both Jacob sees God. This month we will consider the significance of the Bethel vision in Scripture. The second occurs as he returns home, at Peniel (Gen. The first occurs at Bethel as he leaves his father’s house (Gen. It may be rendered, "after three years of days" F19 three complete years.į19 ( Mymy tvlvl) "post tres dierum", Piscator. Two of the greatest visions in the Bible are given to Jacob. It is, in the Hebrew text, "after three days" and so the Targum, ``your tithes in three days '' days being put for years, as Kimchi and Ben Melech observe. The third year after the sabbatical year was the year of tithing and after the tithe of the increase of the fruits of the earth, there was "maaser sheni", the second tithe, the same with "maaser ani", the poor's tithe, which was given to the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless and the widow, to eat with them, ( Deuteronomy 14:22-28 ) ( 26:12 ) and this they are sarcastically bid to observe in their idolatrous way. That is, multiply acts of idolatry: Gilgal was a place where high places and altars were erected, and idols worshipped as it had formerly been a place of religious worship of the true God, the ten tribes made use of it in the times of their apostasy for idolatrous worship see ( Hosea 4:15 ) ( 9:15 ) ( 12:11 ) and bring your sacrifices every morning Īnd offer them to your idols, as you were wont formerly to offer them unto the true God, according to the law of Moses, ( Exodus 29:38 Exodus 29:39 ) your tithes after three years The sense is the same with ( Ecclesiastes 11:9 ) see ( Ezekiel 20:29 ) at Gilgal multiply transgression And what follows, are ironic and sarcastic speeches, not giving liberty to sin, but in this way reproving for it: Bethel was one of the places where the calves were placed and worshipped: and here they are bid to go thither, and go on with and continue in their idolatrous worship, by which they transgressed the law of God, and mark what would be the issue of it. If a balance sheet is heavily weighted towards long-term assets, as is the case in a capital-intensive industry, there is a greater risk that the balance sheet will not accurately reflect the actual values of the assets recorded on it. Though depreciation, amortization, and impairment charges are used to bring these items into approximate alignment with their fair values over time, the cost principle leaves little room to revalue these items upward. The cost principle is less applicable to long-term assets and long-term liabilities. Related AccountingTools CoursesĬost Principle for Long-Term Assets and Liabilities The cost principle is not applicable to financial investments, where accountants are required to adjust the recorded amounts of these investments to their fair values at the end of each reporting period. Using the cost principle for short-term assets and short-term liabilities is the most justifiable, since an entity will not have possession of them long enough for their values to change markedly prior to their liquidation or settlement. Cost Principle for Short-Term Assets and Liabilities How the cost principle is applied depends on the situation, as noted below. Thus, this lower of cost or market concept is a crushingly conservative view of the cost principle. However, this variation does not allow the reverse - to revalue an asset upward. A variation on the concept is to allow the recorded cost of an asset to be lower than its original cost, if the market value of the asset is lower than the original cost. The cost principle requires one to initially record an asset, liability, or equity investment at its original acquisition cost. The principle is widely used to record transactions, partially because it is easiest to use the original purchase price as objective and verifiable evidence of value.
